ARMENIAN JOURNALISTS DID NOT WIN BUT WERE AWARDED FOR LOYALTY TO FOOTBALL INSTEAD

On November 6-9, annual Fifth International Football Tournament among journalists of CIS countries took place in Sochi. Nine teams participated in the competition from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Volgograd, Sochi (the host team was represented by municipal administration), Odessa, “Sport Express” and “Football Market” Russian newspapers.

The winners were the team of Azerbaijani journalists having won in the finals the Belarus team with the score 1:0. The third place went to Sochi team having won the Odessites. Armenian journalists – champions of the 2002 tournament – only got the 6th place but were awarded a special prize. The award “For Loyalty to Football” was granted to Tigran Hovhannissian, the Armenian team captain, Chief Editor of Armenian-Russian Business Magazine.
