“GALA” FOUNDER MUST NOW PAY A FINE FOR THE OVERDUE

On March 27 the Gyumri Tax Inspection notified the founder of “GALA” TV company,
“CHAP” LLC, that it has to pay a fine for the tax liability overdue. As it has
been reported, on March 19 the RA Administrative Court read its ruling on a
dispute between the Gyumri Tax Inspection and “CHAP” LLC, committing the company
to pay a tax liability of over 25 million AMD. Further on, taking into account
the litigation and execution expenses, the overall amount made 26 million 899
thousand AMD (about $ 90,000). The liability of “CHAP” was mostly covered by
the funds raised through a telethon, organized by the Headquarters to Protect
Freedom of Expression and “GALA” TV company (see YPC Weekly Newsletter, March
21-27, 2008
).

The fine, imposed by the tax officers, makes 0.15% of the profit tax and VAT
for every day of overdue, and since “CHAP” lost the case, it starts to accumulate
since November 12, 2007, that is, the day when the tax audit at the company
was over. Thus, “GALA” founder must make an additional payment to the state
budget, amounting to about 1.7 million AMD (about $ 5,500).
