OPTIONAL COURSE CYCLE TO TRAIN INTERNATIONAL NEWS WRITERS LAUNCHED

On the initiative of Yerevan Press Club and at the support of Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia, an optional course cycle to train international news writers was launched at the Yerevan State Linguistic University. A group of students of the University that have a fluent command of foreign languages and are knowledgeable of international relations were selected to follow the course.

Three training courses are scheduled for the group: “Introduction to Journalism”; “Foreign Media”; “Modern Information Space” (types and systems of media, new information technologies, integration processes). A publication of “International News Writing Bulletin”, where the stories written by students will be placed, is also planned.

The students who complete the course cycle will receive appropriate certificates. In future, the optional course cycle is planned to be transformed into a department that will provide training in international news writing.
