On November 4 the first program of “Press Club” cycle was broadcast by “Yerkir Media” TV company. The “Press Club” talk-show cycle deals with journalism ethics and is produced by Yerevan Press Club in frames of the “Promoting Freedom, Professionalism and Pluralism of the Media in the South Caucasus and Moldova” programme, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
The theme of the talk-show was the legal and ethical aspects of protection of public figures, firstly of politicians, from defamation. Different viewpoints on the subject were voiced by the discussants — Armineh Ohanian, Chief Editor of “Hraparak” daily, and Zaruhi Postanjian, RA National Assembly MP from “Heritage” faction. The experts of the program were lawyer Ara Ghazarian, Member of the Council on Information Disputes, lawyer Lusineh Hakobian, Head of Europe in Law Association, media expert Mesrop Harutiunian and CoE expert on media law and human rights Gavin Miller (United Kingdom). The discourse was led by YPC President Boris Navasardian.
The next “Press Club” show will be on the air of “Yerkir Media” on Friday, November 11 at 18.35 (rerun — on Tuesday, November 15 at 14.15).
