On March 7 the post-election interim report of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation
Mission on the elections of the RA president was released. The Mission stressed
that this report, covering the period of February 20 — March 3, 2008, should
be read in conjunction with pre-election interim reports as well as the statement
of preliminary findings and conclusions on presidential elections of February
19 (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, February
15-21, 2008 and January
25-31, 2008).
Regarding the media activities the interim post-election report of the Mission
notes that during the period specified “the main broadcast media, including
public television and radio, provided extensive coverage of the view of the
authorities but rarely aired the views of those who raised concerns regarding
the conduct of the 19 February poll”.
