On February 14 at the RA Commercial Court hearings on the case of "Dar 21", "ARMENAKOB", "TV 5", "Yerevan" and "EV" versus the National Commission on Television and Radio of Armenia started. As it has been reported, the suit (filed on January 30) of five private broadcasters of Armenia was incited by the refusal of the National Commission on Television and Radio to return the applications of the TV companies for the participation in the broadcast licensing competition to be revised. As a measure of ensuring the suit, a petition was also filed to suspend the competition till the end of the court proceedings that the court secured (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter on January 25-31, 2003). At the first session the arguments of the parties were presented.
At the second session of February 21 the plaintiffs offered the respondent to sign a reconciliation agreement. In particular, the National Commission on Television and Radio enables the applicants to take their applications within three days and submit their in modified versions within seven days. It was also proposed to announce the competition open on the seventh day after the enforcement of the agreement and to present the results – on the 17th day.
The court allocated time for the parties to discuss the reconciliation. The next session is scheduled for February 28.
