REPRESENTATIVES OF THE “FOURTH ESTATE” DISCUSS THE ACCREDITATION PROCEDURE IN STATE STRUCTURES

The RA Ministry of Justice, in compliance with the stipulations of the RA Law
“On Mass Communication” passed in December last year, developed the Model Procedure
for accrediting journalists in the state administration bodies.

On February 5 at the Journalists Union of Armenia the representatives of Armenian
media and professional associations together with the Deputy Minister of Justice
Ashot Abovian discussed this document. Yerevan Press Club, Journalists Union
of Armenia, Internews Armenia and the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression
made their suggestions to amend a number of provisions of the Procedure. They
mostly refer to the requirements and restrictions for the accreditation of journalists.

The Deputy Minister of Justice assured the meeting participants that the proposals
of the journalistic community will be taken into account during the further
work on the draft.
