The web-site of Yerevan Press Club (www.ypc.am), in “Studies” section, places
the Annual Report of Yerevan Press Club and the Committee to Protect Freedom
of Expression on the Freedom of Speech in Armenia in 2006. The report lists
chronologically the major developments in the media community in 2006: assaults,
other forms of pressure, the incidents, obstructing the activities of media/journalists;
conflict situations and litigations, involving media/journalists; legislative
changes in the media sphere; reports, announcements, statements of the local
and international organizations on media situation in Armenia. The main specifics
of the pre-election year 2006 were the over two dozens of cases when pressure
was exerted on representatives of the “fourth estate” of the country.
