On February 22 in Gyumri a round table “Freedom of Expression in Armenia and
Parliamentary Elections” was held. The event was organized by the Committee
to Protect Freedom of Expression under a project “Advocacy through Empowering
Journalistic Organizations and Regional Media”, supported by the Open Society
Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia and the Netherlands Government. The
representatives of media, NGOs of Shirak region that took part in it discussed
amendments to the election legislation, the pre-election situation in Armenian
media, the issues of access to information, freedom of expression and concealed
censorship. On February 23 on live air of “Tsayg” TV company of Gyumri a talk
show on the same issues was held.
