July 18 was the 13th anniversary since the foundation of Yerevan Press Club.
On the same day at “Gusan“ cafe in Yerevan the YPC Annual Award Ceremony was
held. The Award was established in 1998 and since then is conferred on to the
best journalists and media organizations of Armenia (see https://www.ypc.am “Awards”
section).
YPC Annual Award winners in 2007-2008 are:
“GALA” TV company (Gyumri) – for commitment to media
independence principle and dignity of stance;
Radio “HAY” – for consistency in standing
for its own rights;
Stepanakert Press Club – for fruitful 10 years’ work
and effective cooperation with YPC.
“GALA” TV company also received a special prize from the Committee to Protect
Freedom of Expression, handed by the Committee Chairman Ashot Melikian.
Resident Representative of Friedrich Ebert Foundation in South Caucasus Matthias
Jobelius awarded a special prize to the Director of Radio “Hay” Aram
Mkrtchian, a journalistic trip to Germany, and the correspondent of “Deutsche
Welle” in Armenia Arshavir Gazazian presented the colleagues with a memorable
gift.
