On August 4, according to the decision of the Committee on Early Release, Arman
Babajanian, Chief Editor of “Zhamanak” daily, was released on parole. As it
has been reported, Arman Babajanian was sentenced to 3.5 years of imprisonment
for document fraud to avoid compulsory military service. Head of “Zhamanak”
was released due to his health condition deterioration (see YPC Weekly Newsletter,
July 17-23, 2009). Arman Babajanian had a neurosurgical surgery
in one of the hospitals abroad. He continues treatment in present.
