THE RA LAW “ON TELEVISION AND RADIO” AMENDED

On February 20 the Parliament of Armenia finally ratified the draft law on amendments to the RA Law “On Television and Radio”, having previously passed it in two hearings (see YPC Weekly Newsletter, February 3-9, 2001). The amendments referred to the number of members of the National Commission on Television and Radio, and their compensation. According to the document adopted, this Commission will consist of 9 people, with only positions of the chairman and vice-chairman being salaried. The rest will work as volunteers.

Meanwhile, the Parliament Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Issues is reviewing the package of suggestions on new amendments and additions to the RA Law “On Television and Radio”, submitted by TV and radio companies and by journalistic associations.
