On September 10 the court of primary jurisdiction of Vedi, Ararat region, took a decision of stopping the criminal proceedings against the unemployed Janik Adamian and the typist Jemma Sahakian, accused of libel on RA President Robert Kocharian. As it has already been reported, on June 14, 2002, Janik Adamian pasted leaflets with self-composed verses in the popular areas of Ararat city. The verses told the Armenian President was partial to the terrorist attack in the Parliament of the country on October 27, 1999. Jemma Sahakian, who had typed the verses, was also charged as an accomplice (see YPC Weekly Newsletter, August 3 – September 6, 2002).
According to the court decision, the proceedings were stopped due to the absence of a complaint of the injured party and because the defendants do not represent a threat to the society.
