SUIT OF "NOYAN TAPAN" VERSUS THE NATIONAL COMMISSION ON TELEVISION AND RADIO SECURED

On December 2 the RA Commercial Court secured the suit of "Noyan Tapan" LLC versus the National Commission on Television and Radio. "Noyan Tapan" LLC had challenged the refusal of the National Commission to accept the bid of "Noyan Tapan" for broadcast licensing competition (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, November 9-15, 2002).

The court obliged the National Commission to accept the bid of "Noyan Tapan" within three days after the court decision is enforced. Yet, this time the application must specify the frequency claimed by the TV company.

According to "Noyan Tapan" representatives, the application will be filed for the 58th UHF of Yerevan, where "EV" TV company is currently rebroadcasting CNN. This is the only of the five Yerevan frequencies that is not competed for by "A1+" TV company. As it has already been reported, the competition for these frequencies was suspended on November 18 by the decision of the RA Commercial Court (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, November 16-22, 2002).
