"DEMOCRACY AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN SOUTH CAUCASUS": INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR IN THE CAPITAL OF BULGARIA

On November 28-30 in Sofia international seminar "Democracy and Conflict Resolution in South Caucasus" was held by Friedrich Naumann Foundation (Germany). Politicians, experts, journalists and representatives of non-governmental organizations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany and Georgia took part in the seminar. The participants discussed the interdependence of the democratic development and conflict resolution, the role of the Council of Europe in these processes, the peace efforts in the region. At the seminar the participants were greeted and presentations were made by Director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Romania, Bulgaria and South Caucasus Wolfgang John, the President of Bulgaria in 1990-1997 Zheliu Zhelev, Director General for Political Affairs of the Council of Europe Klaus Shumann, deputy of Azerbaijani Parliament Assim Mollazade, Minister for Special Affairs of Georgia Malkhaz Kakabadze, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, former member of Federal Government of Germany Irmgard Schwaetzer and others. The presentation "Role of Media in the Conflicts in South Caucasus" was made by the President of Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardian.
