WINNERS OF BROADCAST LICENSING COMPETITIONS IN DIGITAL NETWORK ANNOUNCED

On December 16 the National Commission on Television and Radio determined the winners of the 18 broadcast licensing competitions. As it has been reported, the competitions, announced by NCTR on July 20, 2010, are held in Armenia for the first time and are stipulated by the digital switchover from analogue broadcasting. Only two competitions (No.8 and No.11) had two applicants, each. In the other 16 competitions the companies did not have any rivals (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, October 22-28, 2010).

According to the voting results of the NCTR members, the winners of six competitions for national TV channels of general profile are:

In competition No.1 – “Armenia TV” CJSC, founder of “Armenia” TV channel;

No.2 – “Shant” LLC, founder of “Shant” TV channel;

No.3 – “Second Armenian TV Channel” LLC, founder of Second Armenian TV Channel;

No.4 – “Multimedia-Kentron TV” CJSC, founder of “Kentron” TV channel;

No.5 – “Husaber” CJSC, founder of “Yerkir Media” TV channel;

No.6 – “Ansver” LLC (a license for national re-broadcasting).

The winners of nine competitions for TV channels in Yerevan are:

In competition No.7 (entertainment profile) – “ATV” LLC, founder of “ATV” TV channel;

No.8 (youth profile) – “Yerevan TV Company” CJSC, founder of “Yerevan” TV channel, which got 40 points. The application of the other candidate, “ALM Holding” LLC, founder of “ALM” TV company, was rated with 32 points;

No.9 (musical profile) – “Dar-21 TV company” CJSC, founder of “Dar-21” TV channel;

No.10 (youth/educational/scientific profile) – “AR TV Company” LLC, founder of “AR” TV channel;

No.11 (international/current affairs profile) – “ArmNews” CJSC, founder of “ArmNews” TV channel, which received 44 points. The application of the other candidate, “Meltex” LLC, founder of “A1+” TV channel, got 2 points (see above);

No.12 – “Kaym TV Company” LLC (license for re-broadcasting in Yerevan);

No.13 – “Paradiz” LLC (license for re-broadcasting in Yerevan);

No.14 – “Arajin Aliq” LLC (license for re-broadcasting in Yerevan);

No.15 (general profile) – “Shark” LLC, founder of “Hay TV” channel.

In three competitions for regional TV channels of general profile the winners are:

No.16 – “Tavush TV” LLC (Tavush region);

No.17 – “Fortuna” LLC “(Lori region);

No.18 – “Geghama Media Holding” LLC (Gegharquniq region).
