On March 19, 2011 upon the RA President Serzh Sargsian order Merujan Ter-Gulanian and Nara Shlepchian were appointed members of the Council of Public Television and Radio Company of Armenia for six years term. As it has been reported, the competition was announced on February 23 due to the expiration of the term of office of PTRC Council members Stepan Poghosian and Henrikh Hovhanisian. 11 candidates claimed for the two vacant positions (see YPC Weekly Newsletter, March 11-17, 2011).
Writer Merujan Ter-Gulanian was deputy of Armenian parliament of 1990-1995 and 1995-1999 summons, Chief Editor of “Garun” magazine and other media, founder and Chairman of “AR” TV company. Before his appointment as PTRC Council member, Merujan Ter-Gulanian was the Director of “Ararat” public TV channel.
People’s Artist of Armenia Nara Shlepchian, one of the most prominent Armenian anchors, has started her TV career in 1956. Within the last 10 years Nara Shlepchian was the Chairwoman of the Public Relations Council of PTRC Council.
