HEARINGS ON THE SUIT OF SECOND PRESIDENT OF ARMENIA VERSUS “HRAPARAK” STARTED

On May 10 the court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan started hearing the suit of Second President of Armenia versus the founder of “Hraparak” daily, “Hraparak Oratert” LLC. As it has been reported, the reason for going to law became the piece, “Do They Destroy Kocharian, And Explain to Tsarukian?”, published in “Hraparak” on February 12, 2011. The plaintiff demands to refute the information appeared in “Hraparak” that discredits his honor and dignity, to compensate for the damage caused by defamation and libel, as well as recompense the court expenses. The total amount of the financial claims is 6 millions AMD (about $ 16,200), half of which are the court expenses. On March 28 as a pre-relief award the court put an arrest on the property and financial assets of “Hraparak” founder and lifted it on April 11 (see YPC Weekly Newsletter, April 8-14, 2011).

At the session of May 10 the plaintiff was granted time to provide the court with documents grounding his court expenses.
