On October 17 “Zhoghovurd” daily announced about the three defamation suits launched against it, and taken under judicial proceedings within the current month. The lawsuit to protect the honor and dignity of the Governor of Gegharkunik region Nver Poghosian was submitted with regard to the article “The Governor Took a Bribe”, published in “Zhoghovurd” on October 7, 2011. In the suit of citizen Gurgen Aghajanian the piece “They Require from the Sun of Galust”, published in “Zhoghovurd” on August 30, 2011, is contested. The hearings on this case will take place at court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan on October 24. On October 12 the same court submitted into consideration another action on libel and insult: Benik Harutyunian, Director of RA Balneology and Physical Medicine Research Center, demanded to bind the newspaper with refuting the information, as contained in the piece “The Doctor’s Adventures in the Goldfields”, published in “Zhoghovurd” on September 9, 2011.
The statement also notes that the overall amount of the financial claims imposed on “Zhoghovurd” make 5 mln 244 thousand AMD (about $ 14,000).
