The specialized weekly ”Shakhmatayin Hayastan” ("Chess in Armenia") marked 40th anniversary since its foundation. The jubilee coincided with the 1000th issue of the weekly. Over years ”Shakhmatayin Hayastan” changed its periodicity, survived different situations, but as of today is the only Armenian print media, which is a unique chronicle of the Armenian chess. All theses years the Chief Editor of ”Shakhmatayin Hayastan” is Gagik Hovhannisian, who in 2001 received Yerevan Press Club Annual Award – for loyalty to the field.
