On May 3 at the Journalists Union of Armenia the award ceremony of “The Time for Freedom of Press” was held on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day. The 2012 international journalists day, declared by the UN General Assembly 19 years ago, is centered on the theme of “New Voices: Media Freedom Helping to Transform Societies”.
“The Time for Freedom of Press” Award was established in 2006 by Yerevan Press Club, Internews Media Support public organization and Journalists Union of Armenia.
The winner of “The Time for Freedom of Press” in 2012 became Anna Israelian, Editor of “Aravot” daily’s news portal – for successful convergence of traditional and new media. Anna Israelian received a certificate and the traditional gift – a watch.
On the same day, on May 3, the photo exhibition “Freedom of the Press, the Right to Know” opened at the Journalists Union of Armenia. The exhibition is organized by Freedom of Information Center.
