NCTR MONITORING: BROADCASTERS RESPECT ORDER OF PRE-ELECTION PROMOTION

On April 26, the National Commission on Television and Radio released the interim data on the monitoring of the ensuring of equal conditions for parties/party bloc by Armenian TV and radio companies during the official campaign of the May 5, 2013 Yerevan Council of Elders elections. As we have reported, the monitoring is implemented by NCTR in line with the RA Electoral Code (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, March 8-14, 2013).

The NCTR report presents the quantitative data for the 17 days of pre-election promotion (April 7-23, 2013): overall airtime, allocated to parties/bloc by broadcasters, as well as paid and free airtime, provided to parties/bloc for pre-election promotion. Besides, the NCTR report stressed that for the time studied the broadcasters did not violate the official campaign procedure set by the Electoral Code. Earlier, on April 16, the NCTR released the results for the first week of pre-election promotion (see YPC Weekly Newsletter April 12-18, 2013).
