On December 11, the “Zhoghovurd” daily published an article, titled “A “Orinats Yerkir” MP and the Party Filed Lawsuits versus “Zhoghovurd”, reporting on two lawsuits against the founder of the periodical – “Zhoghovurd Newspaper Editorial” LLC, filed into the court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative districts in Yerevan. In one of the cases the plaintiff is the RA National Assembly parliamentarian from the “Orinats Yerkir” faction Levon Dokholyan, in the other the “Orinats Yerkir” party itself. The “Zhoghovurd” claims that it is not yet aware of the specific publications that have served ground for the matter in contest, whereas the daily has not yet received a formal notice, but simply learnt of the filed lawsuits from the judiciary portal DataLex. According to DataLex, the total sum of claimed compensation from the founder of the “Zhoghovurd” is 7 million Armenian Drams (about $ 17.300). In the lawsuit filed by Levon Dokholyan for legal proceedings on December 5, 2013, a demand for compensation of damage to his honor and dignity in the amount of 3,5 million Armenian Drams was presented. The second matter accepted for proceedings on December 9, 2013 relates to the defense of the reputation of the “Orinats Yerkir” party with a demand of compensation in the total amount of 3,5 million Armenian Drams. According to the information available on DataLex, both cases will be considered by the same judge. The starting date of court hearings has not been fixed yet.
