May 27 was the deadline for applications for broadcast licensing competitions, announced by the National Commission on Television and Radio on May 3. As it has been reported, three frequencies are to be contested (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, May 2-8, 2003).
Among the bidders for the 25th UHF in Yerevan are its present "owner" "Armenia" TV and "A1+" TV company.
Apart from "Lusalik" TV company, broadcasting on the 32nd UHF in Charentsavan, no other applicants claim it.
Gyumri FM 104.1 MHz is contested by its current "holder" “Shant” radio company and "Asparez" Journalist’s Club.
It should be noted that the applications will be considered by the National Commission on June 7.
