PARLIAMENT AND MEDIA IN SOUTH CAUCASUS AND GERMANY

On February 20-22 in Gudauri an international seminar “Parliament and Mass
Media” was held by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Department of Press
and Information of the Georgian Parliament. The seminar brought together German
experts Michael Link and Rolf Steltemeier, journalists, representatives of parliament
press-services of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as legislators, politicians
and political scientists of the three countries of South Caucasus. The meeting
participants discussed, in particular, the principles of parliamentary journalism,
the coverage of the new government of Georgia in the media, the working conditions
of journalists at Bundestag, written and unwritten rules of conduct of the “fourth”
and first estates during the pre-election campaigns, the role of press-service
in the relations of parliament and media.
