On June 18 in Yerevan the ceremony of the annual award of the Armenian President,
granted for achievements in arts and science, was held. The awardees in 2006
were 18 representatives of the spheres, including the Chief Editor of the bi-lingual
Turkish Armenian newspaper “Agos” Hrant Dink (posthumously). Hrant Dink who
was shot dead on January 19, 2007 in Istanbul received this award for a contribution
to the restoration of historical justice, the protection of freedom of expression
and the establishment of understanding between the nations. The award was granted
to the journalist’s widow, Rakel Dink.
