RECTOR OF HUMANITARIAN INSTITUTE OF YEREVAN RECALLS THE SUIT VERSUS “HETQ” WEEKLY

On October 14 the court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan released the decision on the suit of Mikael Amirkhanian, Rector of Humanitarian Institute of Yerevan, versus “Hetq” weekly (the edition of “Investigative Journalists” NGO). As it has been reported, the plaintiff demanded to refute the information discrediting his honor, dignity and business reputation, as contained in the piece “’Yes, I Am Doing Business’, Says the Rector” (published in “Hetq” on June 3, 2010). Mikael Amirkhanian also required compensating the material loss in the amount of AMD 200,000 (see YPC Weekly Newsletter, September 10-16, 2010).

At the session of October 1 Rector of Yerevan Humanitarian Institute recalled his suit. The decision of the plaintiff is conditioned by the fact that the information to be refuted reflected the opinion of the student of Yerevan Humanitarian Institute, published in “Hetq”.

On October 14 the court resolved to terminate the case.
