WORLD NEWSPAPER CONGRESS AND WORLD EDITORS FORUM HELD IN HONG KONG

On June 3-6, the 54th World Newspaper Congress and 8th World Editors Forum organized by World Association of Newspapers (WAN) were held in Hong Kong.

The Congress started with a round-table discussion on freedom of speech and information technologies. One of the subjects discussed was the establishment of the dialogue between journalists of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Boris Navasardian, the President of the Yerevan Press Club, presented the issue. According to organizers of the Congress, cooperation of the South Caucasus journalists could serve as a model in other regions torn by conflicts. The participation of YPC President, as well as of some other WAN guests was sponsored by Freedom Forum.

WAN is a reputable association uniting publishers and media managers from all continents, it efficiently promotes the development of information industry. The Hong Kong meeting was a great opportunity for further progress of media.

Armenia is not as yet represented in either WAN or in Freedom Forum.
