THE VISITING SESSION OF THE PACE COMMITTEE TOOK PLACE IN YEREVAN

On October 22-23 in Yerevan the visiting session of the Committee on Science, Culture and Education of the Parliamentarian Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) took place, where 21 parliamentarians from 16 countries participated. On the second working day the Committee in particular referred to the issues of media. The situation in the information sphere of Armenia and partly in other countries of the South Caucasus was presented by the Head of the Department of Information and Publications at the RA Government Edward Militonian, the Chief Editor of “Aravot” daily Aram Abrahamian, the President of Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardian and the RA National Assembly deputy Haik Babukhanian.

The issues discussed were related to the media market, the state policy and economic conditions in the informational sphere, the freedom of speech, media-related legislation, as well as the role of media in the regional conflict resolution.
