"A1+" TV COMPANY IS IN THE FOCUS OF ATTENTION OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE

On July 9 during his official visit to Armenia the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Walter Schwimmer touched upon the situation of "A1+" TV company, who lost the broadcast licensing competition on April 2, 2002. Mr. Schwimmer stressed that the Council of Europe places special importance on the diversity of information market, especially the private media, able to compete with the state-owned ones. So, as the CE Secretary General mentioned, it is necessary to make every effort for "A1+" to participate in the next broadcast licensing competition. The Council of Europe will watch the process intently, Walter Schwimmer said.

Meanwhile, on July 11 the 100 days of "A1+" TV company disappearance from air were completed. The new broadcast licensing competition will apparently be announced on October 15.
