“Armenian-Azerbaijani Relations and the Impact of the ‘Turkish Factor’ upon Them” – November 26-28, 2010, Aghveran (Armenia), seminar, organized by Yerevan Press Club with the assistance of Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The participants (40 in number) represented media, NGOs and journalistic associations of Armenia. Main issues discussed: Armenian-Azerbaijani issues in the media of two countries; interference of the civil societies of Armenia and Azerbaijan; situation of the Armenians in nowadays Turkey; Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Azerbaijani public relations in terms of Armenian foreign policy.

“EU-Armenia: The Present and Perspectives” – October 13-15, 2010, Kapan (Armenia), seminar, organized by Yerevan Press Club with the assistance of Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The participants (33 in number) represented media, NGOs and journalistic associations of Armenia. Main issues discussed: political significance of the EU Eastern Partnership (EaP) initiative; perspectives of EU-Armenia economical cooperation in terms of EaP Free Trade Agreement; importance of anti-corruption programs in frames of EaP; role of civil society in implementing the Eastern Partnership programme; coverage of European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership by Armenian media; challenges in reforming the local self-government institutions in the light of EU-Armenia cooperation.

“The Role of Media in Karabagh Conflict and Advancement of Regional Security and Cooperation” – September 13-15, 2010, Istanbul, Turkey, international conference, organized by Yerevan Press Club and “Yeni Nesil” Journalists Union of Azerbaijan with the support of Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The event was assisted by the Global Political Trends Center. Participants (30 in number) represented journalists and experts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Georgia, Russia and Turkey. Main issues discussed: Karabagh conflict in the context of regional security and its reflection in the German speaking media; perspectives of Turkish politicians, media and expert community towards conflicts in South Caucasus; Azerbaijani and Armenian media coverage of mutual relations in the context of recent regional developments; Karabagh conflict and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in the mirror of neighboring countries; discussion of the further plans, envisaged by the project.

“Ensuring Public Awareness on Regional Developments” – July 14-17, 2010, Bazaleti, Georgia, working meeting, organized by Yerevan Press Club and “Yeni Nesil” Journalists Union of Azerbaijan with the assistance of Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Participants (10 in number) represented YPC and “Yeni Nesil”. Main issues discussed: general situation and the new trends in the media of Azerbaijan/Armenia, the influence of these factors on covering regional issues; findings of monitoring the media coverage of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations; expectations of the expert community regarding the media coverage of Armenian-Azerbaijani ties – results of round tables in Armenia/Azerbaijan; comparative analysis of the monitoring findings and round tables; discussion of the further plans, envisaged by the project.

“EU-Armenia: Cooperation and Perspectives” – May 28-30, 2010, Gyumri (Armenia), seminar, organized by Yerevan Press Club with the assistance of Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Participants (40 in number) represented media, NGOs and journalistic associations of Armenia. Main issues discussed: the process of forming the Armenian National Platform of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum; EaP – expectations and the reality; the importance of EaP initiative in light of international geopolitics; the coverage of European Neigbourhood Policy and EaP programmes by Armenian media: the findings of content analysis for March-April, 2010; Armenia on the path to Eurointegration: main problems of democratic reforms, foreseen by EaP; the instruments and possibilities of Euronest – parliamentary component of EaP.

“Journalists Support Stability and Cooperation in Caucasus” – April 2-5, 2010, Izmir (Turkey), round table, organized by Yerevan Press Club and “Yeni Nesil” Journalists Union of Azerbaijan with the assistance of Federation of Journalists of Turkey, Izmir University of Economics, Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, Journalists’ Union of Russia under the YPC and “Yeni Nesil” project, supported by the OSI Network Media Program. Participants (20 in number) included representatives of media and journalistic associations of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Russia. Main issues discussed: old conflicts and new situation in the Caucasus, the influence of conflicts and possible ways for conflict resolution, initiative of stability and cooperation; media situation in countries attending the round table, nature of coverage of regional conflicts by media; concept and main components of the joint actions program.
