CHANGES IN THE COUNCIL OF PUBLIC TV AND RADIO COMPANY

On January 7, a decree of the RA President Robert Kocharian made an early dismissal
of a member of the Council of Public TV and Radio Company of Armenia, the Vice-Chairman
of the Council Ashot Manukian. On the same day the President appointed two new
members of the Council – Alexan Harutyunian (for the vacancy formed after the
tragic death of Tigran Naghdalian) and Vardan Kopian.

Alexan Harutyunian, a philologist by education, since November 1999 and till
the new appointment was the Councilor of the RA President. Previously, he had
held the positions of the Head of the Offices of the Prime Minister and President
of Armenia. In early 1990s he worked at the state television, was a director
of “Hailur” independent TV news agency.

Vardan Kopian, economist and lawyer by education, had worked at the Secretariat
of the Justice Council before his new appointment, and prior to that – at the
economic, state and legal departments of the RA President’s Office.

On January 8 at the session of the RA Council of Public TV and Radio Company
Alexan Harutyunian was elected to the position of the Chairman of the Council,
and Vardan Kopian – to the position of Vice Chairman.
