On June 10 Internews Armenia public organization announced the results of cartoon competition “Sharp Sight”, dedicated to present-day Armenian television. The competition was timed for the World Press Freedom Day on May 3 and organized by Internews with the support of the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation-Armenia (see YPC Weekly Newsletter, April 8-14, 2005). The 21 cartoons of six authors were placed on the Internews web-page (http://home.media.am), with an online voting made for them during the 20 days. By the voting results, the winner was the student of Yerevan State Engineering (Polytechnic) University Artavazd Baghdasarian. The second winner was determined by a fast voting of journalists and broadcast professionals, present at the summing up ceremony. This was the employee of “ARMENAKOB” private TV company Aram Abajian. Both awardees received certificates and monetary prizes.
