AWARDEES OF CLEAN AIR AND PRESS

On December 26 the State Inspection on Language announced the results of competitions
“Clean Air” and “Clean Press”. For a year the staff of the State Inspection
was tracing TV, radio air and, for the first time, print publications for correct
use of the Armenian language by journalists and media.

The winners of “Clean Air” competition were named to be: the First Channel
of the Public Television of Armenia and its program for the military “Zinuzh”;
the Second Armenian TV Channel; “Yerkirn Aysor” newscast of “Yerkir-Media” TV
company; “Armenia-Diaspora” program of “Armenia” TV channel; “Program on Culture”
of Public Radio of Armenia. The hosts with the best command of the Armenian
language were named to be Nver Mnatsakanian (“Shant” TV company), Armineh Harutiunian
(“AR” TV company, “Education Poste Restante” program cycle), sports observer
Karo Poghosian (“Kentron” TV company).

The winners of the “Clean Press” competition were: “Hayastani Hanrapetutiun”
and “Azg” among dailies; “Yerkir” among weeklies; “Loru Marz” (Vanadzor) among
regional press; “Grakan Tert” among the literary and arts publications.

A special award for the many-year contribution to the development of the language
was granted to veteran newspapers “Hayastan” and “Avangard”.

The Chairman of the RA National Assembly Standing Committee on Science, Education,
Culture and Youth Issues Hranush Hakobian received an award for clean speech.
