ARMENIAN-AZERBAIJANI “LITERARY LABORATORY” PRESENTED

On May 29 at the Journalists Union of Armenia the www.litlab.org (“Literary
Laboratory- Writers Versus Conflicts”) web-site was presented. The web-site
has been launched under “Online Literary Journal for Regional Peace” project
of Yerevan and Baku Press Clubs, supported by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
The project is directed at assisting the dialogue between the societies of Azerbaijan
and Armenia through publications and online discussions of the works of the
modern Azerbaijani and Armenian writers. “Azerbaijanis (Armenians) have good
modern literature” – this kind of readers’ response is the main purpose of the
“Literary Laboratory”. The works are selected by the literary coordinators of
the two countries and are translated into national languages as well as into
English and Russian.

At present the web-site presents five stories from Armenia – by Hrant Matevosian,
Vano Siradeghian, Armen Shekoyan, Susanna Harutiunian, Aghasi Ayvazian, and
five from Azerbaijan – by Rustam Ibragimbekov, Rashad Mejid, Fahri Ugurlu, Yasar,
Samir Sadahatoglu. Currently litlab.org is in Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian
languages. Its English version will soon appear on the Net, too. The web-site
will be regularly updated by new works.
