DEAN OF YSU JOURNALISM DEPARTMENT GARNIK ANANIAN PASSED AWAY

On November 20 at the age of 74 the Dean of Journalism Department of Yerevan
State University, corresponding member of the RA National Science Academy, Professor
Garnik Ananian passed away.

Garnik Ananian was one of those few who did not hesitate to reform the higher
journalistic education, overcoming the numerous bureaucratic barriers. It is
through the effort of Garnik Ananian that the YSU Journalism Department established
ties with relevant foreign schools, it is due to the consistency of the Dean
that the academic processes was innovated, modern equipment and TV and radio
studios appeared at YSU Journalism Department. Garnik Ananian was in constant
partnership with Yerevan Press Club. Through this interaction joint seminars
and conferences were held, curricula were developed and published.

Yerevan Press Club expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends
of Garnik Ananian.
