OFFICE OF RA HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER AND YEREVAN PRESS CLUB ANNOUNCE COMPETITION FOR THE POSITION OF MEDIA LIAISON

 On October 4 the Office of RA Human Rights Defender and Yerevan Press Club announced a competition for filling the part-time position of media liaison at the Human Rights Defender’s Office. The competition is held under “Alternative Resources in Media” project, jointly implemented by Internews Network (USA), Eurasia Partnership Foundation, Yerevan Press Club and Internews Media Support public organization with the financial support of USAID. The work duration is a year with a possible 3-years extension of the contract.

The responsibilities of media liaison encounter: keeping track of legal cases that involve media and information issues; provide an expertise on current media legislation and media policy issues; cultivating relationships between the ombudsman’s Office, the parliament, the Government and civil society, and working closely with Media Advocacy Group; assisting the ombudsman’s Office with the media and media related legal expertise, support the Office with media related annual publications; liaise with other entities involved in media development and related advocacy such as traditional and new media industry professionals, civil society groups and coalitions; monitoring pending media related legislature and providing interpretation of this legislature.

The following qualifications are required for the position: master’s degree in Law; at least 3 years of advocacy background and relevant experience; legal practice, experience in civil society, Government and media relations; fluent knowledge of Armenian, Russian and English languages (knowledge of other languages is a plus); excellent computer literacy.
