On April 26 the RA President Robert Kocharian ratified the RA Law "On Introducing Amendments to the RA Law ‘On Press and Other Media’ ", which had previously been adopted by the RA National Assembly. The amendments in the media law that had been active since 1991 were pre-conditioned by the necessity to bring it into conformity with the RA Civil Code. Thus, as the amendments stipulate, only legal entities can become founders of media. Through these changes, Article 7, which specified the right for founding media by both legal entities and individuals, is presently abolished.
