THE STOLEN POSSESSIONS OF "HAIKAKAN ZHAMANAK" TO BE RETURNED

Recently a suspect in committing the burglary at the editorial office of "Haikakan Zhamanak" daily was detained (see YPC Weekly Newsletter, June 23-29, 2001). This was told to Yerevan Press Club by the investigator of Interior Affairs Department of Central Community of Yerevan, Major Karineh Mkrtchian. The detained is identified to be Hrachia Sahakian, born in 1958, previously three times convicted, unemployed, residing not far from the editorial office.

According to Karineh Mkrtchian, in the course of examination the suspect pleaded guilty and returned the stolen possessions. An employee of "Haikakan Zhamanak", Artur Tigranian, who was invited to the Interior Department, identified the belongings of the daily and, as the investigator assured, they will be returned to their legitimate owner. As to Sahakian, legal proceedings are instituted against him, and the case will be transferred to the court.
