“AR” TV COMPANY HAS A NEW DIRECTOR

On October 12 the Stockholders’ Board of the private “AR” TV company made a decision to change the management of the company. Andranik Tevanyan was appointed to the position of the Director of “AR”. On the same day one of the founders and the stockholders of the company, the President of the channel since its early days (1996) Meruzhan Ter-Ghulanian officially announced its voluntary resignation on the evening air of “AR”.  Remaining the Chairman of the Stockholders’ Board, Meruzhan Ter-Ghulanian resigned the responsibilities of the manager, explaining it solely by the interest in the future prosperity of the company.

It is expected that the new leader will be able to bring “AR” out of the financial difficulties it has found itself in, particularly, because of the liabilities it accumulated on the loan taken from “Ardshinbank”. As YPC was told by Director of “AR” Andranik Tevanyan, the priority list includes a change in the image of the TV channel, the quality and the quantity of the programs, the editorial staff.

YPC Reference: Andranik Tevanyan was born in 1974 in Yerevan. He graduated from the Yerevan State Institute of Architecture and Construction with the qualification of engineer-economist. In 1998 Mr. Tevanyan was employed as a political observer at “Mair Hairenik” TV company. In 1999 he hosted the economic magazine “The Fair” on the National Television of Armenia. In 1999-2000 Mr. Tevanyan occupied the position of the Counselor and Press Secretary to the RA Minister of Economy. Since May 2000, he was the Chief Editor of the main newscast of “AR”, “The Courier”, from September 2000 – the Executive Director of “AR”. In March 2001 Mr. Tevanyan left “AR”, working as an free-lance journalist and producer. Since October 12, 2001 he has been the Director of “AR” TV company.
