PRESS CONFERENCE OF “PEOPLE’S TV” FOUNDATION

On December 6 at “Urbat” club of Yerevan the press conference of the members of the Board of Trustees of “People’s TV” Foundation took place. As it has been reported, the “People’s TV” Foundation, created in mid-October 2010, has started a fundraising for supporting “A1+” TV company, which is taking part in the broadcast licensing competitions (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, October 29 – November 4, 2010).

At the meeting with journalists on December 6 the Foundation presented its current activities and its intentions of creating a people’s TV, the programs of which would satisfy the demands of the audience. It was also announced that as of today funds to support “A1+” were transferred by about 20,000 citizens and organizations. At the press conference the issue of the chances of “A1+” to restart its broadcast was also discussed. It should be noted that the competitions, announced by the National Commission on Television and Radio on July 20, 2010, are held in Armenia for the first time and are stipulated by the digital switchover from analogue broadcasting. “Meltex” LLC, founder of “A1+”, participates in competition No.11, where his opponent is “ArmNews” LLC. The competitions will be summed up on December 16.
