BROADCAST LICENSING COMPETITION RESULTS FOR REGIONAL TV COMPANIES ANNOUNCED

On December 23 the National Commission on Television and Radio named the 7 winners of the broadcast licensing competitions. As it has been reported, the competitions, announced by NCTR on July 27, 2010 for regional TV companies, are held in Armenia for the first time and are stipulated by the digital switchover from analogue broadcasting. Only two competitions (No.22 and No.23) had two applicants, each. In the other 5 competitions the companies did not have any rivals (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, October 22-28, 2010).

According to the voting results of the NCTR members, the winners of seven competitions for regional TV channels of general profile are:

No.19 (Ararat region) – “Telelex” LLC, founder of “Artashat” TV company;

No.20 (Armavir region) – “Nor Dar, Nor Hazaramyak” LLC;

No.21 (Vayots Dzor region) – “ArpaInform” LLC;

No.22 (Kotayk region) – “Abovyan TV Editorial Office” LLC, which received 42 points. The application of the other candidate, “Sirak” LLC, got 21 points;

No.23 (Shirak region) – “Tsayg” LLC, founder of “Tsayg” LLC, which received 42 points, while “CHAP” LLC, founder of “GALA” TV, got 14 points;

No.24 (Syuniq region) – “Dzagedzor TV Company” LLC, founder of “Sosi” TV company;

No.25 (Aragatsotn region) – “Yerevan Media Holding” LLC.
