UNTRUE AND DISCREDITING INFORMATION DISCUSSED ON “PRESS CLUB”

On November 18 another program of “Press Club” cycle was broadcast by “Yerkir Media” TV company. The “Press Club” talk-show cycle deals with journalism ethics and is produced by Yerevan Press Club in frames of the “Promoting Freedom, Professionalism and Pluralism of the Media in the South Caucasus and Moldova” programme, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.

The theme of the talk-show was untrue and discrediting information. This topical issue was considered by the show participants in the context of numerous defamation suits versus Armenian media. The discussants, Production director Zhirair Dadasian and Chief Editor of “Yerkir” daily Bagrat Yesayan, presented their stances on the problem. The talk-show experts were lawyer Ara Ghazarian, member of the Council on Information Disputes, Shushan Doydoyan, Head of the Freedom of Information Center, Ashot Melikian, Chairman of the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression, and Robert Pinker, CoE expert, Consultant at UK Press Complaint Commission. The discourse was led by Aram Abrahamian, Chief Editor of “Aravot” daily.

The next “Press Club” show will be on the air of “Yerkir Media” on Friday, November 25 at 18.35 (rerun – on Tuesday, November 29 at 14.15).
