WINNERS OF “SUNFLOWER” COMPETITION ANNOUNCED

On November 30 in Yerevan the results of the 5th “Arevatsaghik” (“Sunflower”)
competition were announced. The competition was organized by “Huysi Kamurj”
(“Bridge of Hope”) NGO and the Armenian branch of “Mission East” NGO with the
assistance of Danish Agency for International Development. The competition with
a slogan of “Equal Opportunities” was held among stories on the problems faced
by the disabled that were published/aired from November 20, 2006 – November
20, 2007.

In the nomination “Best TV story” the first prize was gained by Stella Martirosian
(for “My World” film, “Shoghakat” TV company), the second – by Anna Gasparian
(for “Life With My Eyes” film, “ARMENAKOB” TV company). A special prize went
to Seda Grigorian (for “My Tale” film, “Lusalik” TV company, Charentsavan).

In “Best Radio Program” nomination only special prizes were awarded. These
went to Hasmik Karslian (“LyunSe” youth program of the Public Radio of Armenia)
and Narineh Ghalechian (“Max Liberty” youth program of the Armenian Service
of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty) – for comprehensive and active coverage
of problems of the disabled, respectively.

The first prize in “Best Article” nomination was awarded to Diana Bakhshian
(for publication “Your Attitude Contributes…”, “”Vorotan” newspaper, Sisian),
the second – to Vahan Ishkhanian (for the publication “Applied Skills: Ruben
Sargsyan’s Poetic Life”, ArmeniaNow.com web site) and the third – to Siranush
Grigorian (“Seeing Past Limitations: “Normal” Living Is a Special Challenge
for Armenia’s Blind Population”, ArmeniaNow.com). A prize of encouragement was
received by Anush Khechoyan (for the publication “They Love and Are Loved”,
“Aravot” daily).
