JOURNALISTIC ASSOCIATIONS CONDUCT AN OPINION POLL

Yerevan, Baku and Stepanakert Press Clubs have started an opinion poll in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Mountainous Karabagh on the possible ways of settling the Karabagh conflict, media coverage of this issue and the media influence on the public opinion. The opinion poll is an integral part of the project “Karabagh Conflict in the Mirror of Media and Public Opinion in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Mountainous Karabagh”, realized by the three journalistic associations with the assistance of the Open Society Institute Network Media Program (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, February 3-9, 2001).

In the course of research 1000 respondents will be polled in Armenia and Azerbaijan each, and 150 respondents – in Mountainous Karabagh. Besides, it is planned to interview the decision makers, media leaders, experts on the same range of issues but in a more profound way: 100 respondents will be polled in Armenia and Azerbaijan each, and 25 respondents will be surveyed in Mountainous Karabagh.

The results of the opinion poll and the simultaneously implemented media monitoring will be summarized by each of the partnering organizations in a report. The most interesting data of the research in Armenia will also be published in the Newsletter of Yerevan Press Club.
