Rebroadcasting of the programs of the Russian ORT TV company in Armenia restarted on VHF. As it has already been reported, ORT was transferred to the UHF in early 2001, and the discussion of the restoration of the full-scale broadcasting of this company was revitalized during the visit of RF President Vladimir Putin to Armenia in mid-September. In a month the governments of the two countries reached a final agreement of returning ORT to the VHF (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, October 13-19, 2001).
On the eve of the New Year another Russian company – TV 6 – appeared on the Armenian air. The broadcasts of TV 6 were interrupted in mid-September because of the conflict between its representative in Armenia and “Noyan Tapan” TV company (see details in YPC Weekly Newsletter, September 15-21, 2001). The programs of TV 6 are fully rebroadcast by “Urartu” TV company on the 39th UHF, where previously ORT was aired.
