On October 11-12, in Tbilisi the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media held the 9th South Caucasus media conference, “From Traditional to Online Media: Best Practices and Perspectives”. More than 70 representatives of media, journalistic organizations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, foreign experts, OSCE representatives and other international organizations took part in the event. Dunja Mijatovic, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, made opening remarks at the conference. The discussion centered on traditional and social media, freedom of information in social network, Internet and IP regulation, digital media and the Internet market, issues of media self-regulation and freedom of speech, development of online media in the South Caucasus countries. On part of Armenia, speeches were delivered by Manana Aslamazyan, Director of “Alternative Resources in Media” project, who talked about the new media in Armenia, and Boris Navasardian, Yerevan Press Club President, who presented the dominating trends in Armenian media in 2011-2012.
On the closing day, the participants of the conference adopted a declaration regarding online media.
