German-Armenian Exchange Program for Journalists
The Yerevan Press Club is announcing a call for applications for participation in the “Strengthening Election Reporting in Armenia” program. The program is implemented in cooperation with the German organization Deutsche Gesellschaft and funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
In 2026, Armenia will hold both parliamentary elections and a constitutional referendum, which will play a decisive role in shaping the country’s democratic development. These processes are taking place amid ongoing political instability, social polarization, and the unresolved consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Armenia’s geopolitical shift toward closer cooperation with the European Union presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly in terms of disinformation campaigns and external pressures.
Within the framework of study visits to Berlin (November 9–16, 2026) and Yerevan (September 21–28, 2026), Armenian and German journalists will conduct research for the preparation of articles, meet with representatives of government institutions, the journalistic community, and civil society, and participate in workshops related to the overall theme of the program. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with colleagues working in conflict zones, gain insight into leading practices in countering disinformation, and build strong professional networks.
Journalists up to the age of 45, with at least 3 years of professional experience in Armenian or international media and a good command of English, are eligible to apply.
To apply, applicants must complete the online application form (a Gmail account is required) and submit the following documents:
- CV (in English),
- Motivation letter (in English, 600–1200 characters),
- Links to three publications produced within the last two years (in any language: text, video, audio report, photo report, etc.),
- A proposal for the planned research or article(s), including a brief description of the topic, objective, and potential interviewees in Berlin (in English, 300–600 characters),
- A letter of recommendation from the editor or media outlet manager (in Armenian or English).
The organizers will cover travel costs, as well as accommodation and meal expenses for selected participants.
The application deadline is April 30, 2026 (inclusive).
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
