COMMITTEE TO PROTECT FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION NAMED THE MOST OPEN AND CLOSED OFFICIAL WEBSITES

On October 7, Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression presented the results of the monitoring of the RA public authorities’ websites, held by the journalistic organization to assess the level of information transparency of state agencies.

The study is being carried out with the support of Friedrich Ebert Foundation and covers the period from April 1 to November 30, 2014.

The subject of the monitoring  are websites of 44 public authorities: 34 ministries and governmental agencies, as well as 10 regional administrations of the country.

The RA Ministry of Territorial Administration is leading in the rating of information transparency of governmental agencies, while the RA State Migration Service and the RA Ministry of Agriculture are the second and the third, accordingly.

The RA Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the National Commission on Television and Radio (the body regulating activities of Armenian broadcasters) and the State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee are closing the list.

From among the web pages of  10 regional administrations of Armenia, Kotayk region, followed by Lori region, are found to have the most transparent websites. Syunik region is the last one in this regard.
