DAY OF ARMENIAN PRESS CELEBRATED FOR THE TENTH TIME

On October 16, media community of the country celebrated the Day of Armenian Press for the tenth time.

The professional holiday was established by the RA Government decree in 2004. It replaced the Day of the Press Worker, which had been in place up to that point. The holiday commemorates the first Armenian periodical, “Azdarar” newspaper.

220 years ago, on October 16, 1794, the first issue of Armenian newspaper “Azdarar” (Herald) was published in the Indian city of Madras.
